1 How did you first get introduced to your craft?

I took a basic sewing class the summer I turned 12 and I’ve been sewing ever since.

2 What type of patterns do you enjoy designing the most?

I enjoy creating items with cute faces for babies and children.

3 What are you most known for?

I am most known for baby shoe patterns, which were the first patterns I made. I’m always working on new shoe patterns. A baby can never have too many shoes!

4 How do you jump-start your creativity?

I usually look through catalogs that come in the mail to see what’s new for the season.

5 What season inspires you the most?

Every season is full of inspiration, but I think maybe winter because I have the most time for designing.

6 On average, how many new patterns do you design each year?

24-36

7 Is there another craft you'd like to try your hand at?

Over the years, I’ve worked with all types of crafts, including paper, beading, wool felting and painting, selling my original designs to numerous craft and sewing magazines. Right now, I’m just enjoying sewing.

8 What is your favorite way to spend a Sunday afternoon?

Taking a walk with my husband at Blandy Farm, the State Arboretum in Virginia, which fortunately for us, is only a few minutes from our house. The scenery is always changing.

9 What three items do you always have in your craft bag?

I enjoy embellishing my designs with ribbon, rick rack and embroidery floss.
