1 How did you first get introduced to your craft?
A friend of the family taught me how to cast-on, which I did over and over until my grandmother took pity on me and taught me the knit stitch!
2 What type of patterns do you enjoy designing the most?
I really do love designing all sorts of things, but I find that the shape of a sock is a great palette with which to get really creative.
3 What are you most known for?
Definitely my socks!
4 How do you jump-start your creativity?
I love to page through my huge collection of stitch dictionaries. If I'm feeling really stumped, I bake!
5 What season inspires you the most?
Spring, for sure, with all the new growth sprouting and flowered trees budding out all around my city of Portland.
6 On average, how many new patterns do you design each year?
Probably 1-2 per month, although sometimes it seems like way more.
7 Is there another craft you'd like to try your hand at?
I'd love to try tatting someday, and I'm always wishing I had more time to sew. My sewing machine is still in its box!
8 What is your favorite way to spend a Sunday afternoon?
Knitting, of course! During the summer, I also love to putter around the garden. In the winter, I'm usually cooking up a big pot of soup and baking bread.
9 What three items do you always have in your craft bag?
A calculator, a little notebook and a pair of scissors. And of course a sock on the needles!
