Designer Name:  Kathy Barwick
Home State:  California
Design Specialty:  Plastic Canvas

1 How did you first get introduced to your craft?

At my wedding I became enamored by a beautiful plastic canvas cross hanging on my mother-in-laws wall. I created one just like it. Inspired, I went on to create other designs and styles based on that original template.

2 What type of patterns do you enjoy designing the most?

Tissue box covers.

3 What are you most known for?

These three books Precious Promise Crosses, Mosaic Tissue Covers and Native American Tissue Covers.

4 How do you jump-start your creativity?

I remember to have fun! I create designs and projects that I enjoy and that will accent things in my life. I share my passion with my friends and family. I also enter my projects in local fairs where I have won hundreds of ribbons and prizes. I let my imagination be my inspiration.

5 What season inspires you the most?

I am inspired all year long. I seem to always have some kind of pattern going.

6 On average, how many new patterns do you design each year?

100+

7 Is there another craft you'd like to try your hand at?

Over the years Ive done about every craft there is, but plastic canvas has become my passion, so no.

8 What is your favorite way to spend a Sunday afternoon?

Designing patterns on my computer or going to watch a movie.

9 What items do you always have in your craft bag?

Yarn, needles, scissors, hot glue gun, beads, and of course the pieces of plastic canvas I am working on.
