1 How did you first get introduced to your craft?
I was 7 years old and couldn't stop begging my grandma to teach me how to crochet. I'm originally from Brazil, and over there crochet is the most popular of the fiber arts.
2 What type of patterns do you enjoy designing the most?
I love them all, but my favorites are accessories and garments. Crochet is too beautiful, and we need to show off our finished objects by wearing them.
3 What are you most known for?
I am known by my crocodile stitch designs. I love unique stitches.
4 How do you jump-start your creativity?
The easiest way ... with yarn and a hook. I rarely sketch my designs first. I design by doing it.
5 What season inspires you the most?
I don't have a specific season that inspires me the most. All seasons have their special appeal to me. Because I come from a summer-year-round region in Brazil, I love crochet summer pieces.
6 On average, how many new patterns do you design each year?
40 or 50 per year. Not all of them make the final cut, because I'm extremely self-critical, but at least 30 or so do.
7 Is there another craft you'd like to try your hand at?
Sewing. I've got a machine and I've enrolled on an online course, but unfortunately, my time is very limited and I have not made much progress on it yet.
8 What is your favorite way to spend a Sunday afternoon?
Crocheting and eating something delicious. How else?
9 What three items do you always have in your craft bag?
Hooks, yarn and scissors.
