1 How did you first get introduced to your craft?
My mother crocheted when I was a little girl and I always loved her yarn basket.
2 What type of patterns do you enjoy designing the most?
Everything. I am inspired by so much. My mood for the day determines if I want to make an afghan or a sweater.
3 What are you most known for?
Crochet Symbols. All my patterns, whether they are in my books, DVDs or pattern lines, have a stitch diagram (or 10) -- whatever the pattern requires to explain the trickier parts.
4 How do you jump-start your creativity?
Walking. I live in a great and active city. All I need to do it take a walk with the kids at the park, museum, or around the block; something will come to me.
5 What season inspires you the most?
Fall. Nothing quite like the first cool air of the season.
6 On average, how many new patterns do you design each year?
I design between 30-50 new patterns every year between my books, DVDs, magazine work, and my own pattern line.
7 Is there another craft you'd like to try your hand at?
Every craft. Everything interests me. I just bought a loom I would love to have more time playing with, and I would love to have more time to explore bead weaving and jewelry making.
8 What is your favorite way to spend a Sunday afternoon?
Outside with my kids. They are at an age where anything can be an adventure and spending time just taking a walk can be magical.
9 What three items do you always have in your craft bag?
Scissors, hand balm (like lavishea), Clover crochet hooks.
