1 How did you first get introduced to your craft?
I started sewing and crafting from a very young age. I was a 4-H kid, so we made our own clothing growing up, as well as gifts. Now my family and friends are actually disappointed if they do not receive something personal and handmade from me.
2 What type of patterns do you enjoy designing the most?
Free-form quilts.
3 What are you most known for?
Tote bags, design and teaching.
4 How do you jump-start your creativity?
Surround myself with a wide variety of fabric options, read industry trends, look at the wonderful pieces other designers are creating, and look at inspiration pieces at quilt shows and social media.
5 What season inspires you the most?
Love them all! I'm a New England girl, so I find joy in all the seasons.
6 On average, how many new patterns do you design each year?
For publishing, approximately 24-30. For exclusive classes and workshops, another 6- 10.
7 Is there another craft you'd like to try your hand at?
Many. I currently sew, quilt, knit, crochet, tat, embroider (both hand and machine), craft, make jewelry and dabble a bit with paper arts. I would love to explore more art quilting, fabric design, expand my quilting knowledge to include better free-motion skills, and do more with fabric creation -- to name a few.
8 What is your favorite way to spend a Sunday afternoon?
Sewing, of course!
9 What three items do you always have in your craft bag?
Good scissors, a ruler, and glue. When I travel, I carry travel versions of these and 3 projects at minimum.
